Role overview
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing human resources operations and guiding the HR team across recruitment, compensation, employee relations, and learning and development. The position is expected to support the goals laid out in the Human Resource Business Plan while delivering services that help employees succeed and contribute to business performance. The role also requires strong attention to legal compliance, company policies, and operating procedures.
Core responsibilities
- Lead HR employees across key areas such as hiring, total rewards, employee relations, and training and development.
- Make sure HR programs and services align with business objectives and employee needs.
- Keep employee records and disciplinary documentation accurate, complete, and retained for the required period.
- Oversee compliance with HR audits, local laws, regulations, and internal operating standards.
- Ensure policies related to harassment, discrimination, solicitation, and similar workplace matters are applied consistently.
- Work with unemployment service providers, respond to claims, and represent the property at hearings when needed.
- Promote fair treatment of employees and resolve workplace issues promptly and equitably.
- Administer company policies in a consistent manner and support proper disciplinary processes.
- Communicate updates to employee benefit plans and explain workplace rules through employee handbooks or similar channels.
- Coach managers on progressive discipline and related HR procedures.
- Take part in interviewing and selecting HR team members.
- Ensure performance review documents and merit increase records are properly maintained.
- Manage the performance appraisal cycle so reviews, approvals, and pay-related actions are completed on time.
- Build open, collaborative relationships with employees and encourage effective communication across departments.
- Use an open-door approach to address concerns and improve employee retention.
- Monitor the work environment, gather employee feedback, and support community engagement activities.
Candidate profile
The employer is looking for someone with either a high school diploma or GED plus 3 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a closely related professional field, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major plus 1 year of relevant experience.
