About the Role
Our client seeks a Director of Employee Relations for a full-time remote position with occasional travel (25-30%) to Southern California. The role offers an annual salary range of $225,000 to $250,000 plus bonus and equity. The ideal candidate will have expertise in California’s HR and labor laws and experience working within large, global publicly traded companies with over 10,000 employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to HR leadership, specifically the Vice President of Health & Human Resources, supporting enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Provide consultation, guidance, and serve as an escalation point for complex employee relations issues, policy interpretation, compliance, performance management, investigations, and organizational risks.
- Partner with Group HR Leads to ensure consistent application of HR policies and employment practices across the company.
- Lead investigations related to EthicsPoint concerns and employee relations, collaborating with Legal and documenting outcomes within targeted timeframes.
- Support labor and union relations, collective bargaining strategies, and related compliance matters in coordination with Corporate Legal.
- Advise and coach HR and operational leaders on employee relations strategies, leadership effectiveness, conflict resolution, and workforce risks.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide projects, change management, strategic workforce planning, acquisition integrations, and HR standards development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Over 15 years of progressive HR leadership, primarily within large-scale global enterprises and publicly traded companies.
- Extensive experience in employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and organizational consulting.
- Proven track record of completing investigations, including managing reports through anonymous systems, working closely with legal teams, and timely documentation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, particularly California employment regulations.
- Strong labor and union relations expertise, including collective bargaining exposure.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders at all organizational levels.
- HR certifications such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalents are preferred.
- Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and executive presentation skills coupled with strong business acumen.
