About the Division

Pembina Hills School Division is a forward-thinking organization dedicated to providing exceptional education to foster ethical and responsible citizens. We cultivate supportive learning environments where students feel secure and engaged, and where parental involvement is highly valued. Serving approximately 3,400 students across 11 community schools, 2 Hutterite colony schools, and 2 outreach centers within Barrhead, Westlock, and Swan Hills, our division also operates Vista Virtual School, an online institution catering to students throughout the province.

The Position

The Director of Education Services is responsible for overseeing the division's instructional programs, driving continuous improvement to enhance student engagement and ensure success for every learner. This role involves collaboration with the Superintendent and Senior Administration team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Superintendent in assurance reporting, encompassing educational planning, annual results reporting, and satisfaction surveys.
  • Manage the development of division and school calendars.
  • Oversee curriculum matters, including the program of studies, analysis of results, literacy and numeracy strategies, assessment and reporting, learning resources, and professional development for staff.
  • Facilitate professional development for teachers, educational assistants, and school leaders.
  • Administer off-campus, Dual Credit, and Careers programming.
  • Provide support to the Superintendent and System Administration, participating in the Senior Administration team and responding to directives aligned with the role's scope.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Demonstrated integrity, exceptional interpersonal, organizational, technological, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Capacity to effectively represent the Division and its interests to Alberta Education & Childcare and other stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of division planning and reporting procedures.
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Program of Studies.
  • Proven experience in school administration.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement in programs, service outcomes, and delivery systems.
  • Act as an advocate and role model for continuous professional learning.
  • Experience with Collaborative Team Meetings (CTM) is advantageous.

Required Qualifications

  • A valid Alberta teaching certificate.
  • A Master of Education degree.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in school administration.
