The Director, Commercial Strategy will play a pivotal role in strengthening the assessment, prioritization, and scaling of product investments across Cedar's portfolio, collaborating closely with departments such as Product, Finance, Sales, and Client Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and uphold evaluation frameworks for product investments considering market demand, revenue potential, strategic alignment, and feasibility.
- Collaborate with Product teams on portfolio prioritization and roadmap decisions with commercial impacts.
- Analyze customer and market data along with sales and competitive insights to support leadership decision-making.
- Build and validate detailed business cases and financial models addressing revenue, margins, operational costs, and ROI for new and existing products.
- Assist in pricing and monetization strategies in partnership with Commercial Strategy, Finance, Product, and Sales teams.
- Prepare executive-grade investment memos, portfolio reviews, and contribute to board-level presentations.
- Monitor product performance against defined success metrics such as revenue growth, customer retention, adoption rates, and margin impact.
- Support strategic decisions regarding build, buy, or partner approaches and establish repeatable processes for investment tracking and ROI assessment.
Essential Qualifications
- 6 to 10+ years of experience in roles related to strategy, business operations, strategic finance, consulting, product or go-to-market strategy.
- Prior experience in B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, fintech, revenue cycle management, or similar enterprise software sectors is highly desirable.
- Proficient in financial modeling and translating analytic data into actionable business insights.
- Skilled in constructing business cases, conducting market analysis, and creating prioritization frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Capacity to bring structure to ambiguous and complex product and market challenges.
- Strong judgment and integrity, with an ability to identify when to invest, pause, pivot, or de-emphasize initiatives.
Success Outcomes
- Clear and data-driven investment criteria for major product initiatives are established.
- Alignment across Commercial, Product, Finance, and other teams on evaluating and tracking product investments.
- Enhanced executive-level visibility of product performance and returns on investment.
- Sharper decision-making regarding scaling, investing, pausing, or deprioritizing products.
- The strategy and go-to-market team has increased analytical capacity for portfolio planning and decision support.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary range in specific states (CA, NY, NJ, CT, WA): $140,250 to $165,000 adjusted by location, experience, and education.
- Salary range outside these states: $126,200 to $148,500.
