Job description

Role Overview

Trintech is seeking a DevOps Lead to define and guide the infrastructure direction, CI/CD conventions, and release engineering approach for the Agent Stream within its AI Platform. This stream develops production-ready AI agents that support the Autonomous Financial Close. The position is hands-on, but also carries stream-wide influence: you will establish the standards that Senior DevOps Engineers and squad engineers work to, make infrastructure decisions in partnership with the Software Architect, and lead the sequencing of the move from on-premises infrastructure to Azure.

The ideal candidate has strong Kubernetes and CI/CD expertise, can build deployment pipelines that account for AI-specific release needs, and helps lift the technical quality of the broader engineering team.

Infrastructure Strategy and Ownership

  • Set the cloud-native infrastructure direction for the Agent Stream, including Kubernetes cluster setup, namespace layout, resource allocation, and environment structure across development, staging, and production.
  • Drive the on-premises to Azure migration for Agent Stream services by deciding the migration order, shaping the path with Terraform, and keeping services available throughout the transition.
  • Create infrastructure-as-code standards for the stream, covering Terraform module design, Helm chart organization, Kubernetes manifest conventions, and configuration management practices for Senior DevOps Engineers to follow.
  • Design infrastructure for reliability, with high availability, automated failover, workload isolation between agent services, and safe degradation when demand spikes.

CI/CD and Release Engineering

  • Set and own CI/CD pipeline standards across Agent Stream squads, including multi-stage pipelines for builds, automated testing, security checks, staging approvals, and production releases.
  • Build pipeline approaches that support AI deployment needs such as model version handling, Langfuse trace routing, confidence-threshold configuration updates, and agent configuration change flows.
  • Own deployment approval flows and release gates, including rollback methods and audit logs required for compliance.
  • Introduce and govern progressive delivery methods such as blue-green deployment, canary rollout, and feature flag usage, and define when each is appropriate.
  • Track pipeline health as an engineering metric set, including deployment frequency, lead time, failure rate, and MTTR, and report these to the Engineering Manager.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide direction for DevOps practices across the Agent Stream, including tooling choices, pipeline patterns, and infrastructure standards, while working closely with the Software Architect and Engineering Manager.
  • Coach Senior DevOps Engineers by reviewing infrastructure plans and pipeline decisions and by sharing knowledge that strengthens the team’s technical capability.
  • Work with the Software Architect on infrastructure-related design decisions, turning architecture needs into deployment setups and pushing back when proposals increase complexity or reliability risk.
  • Spot infrastructure debt early, including reliability issues, pipeline slowdowns, and configuration drift, and bring practical solutions rather than only highlighting problems.

Observability and Security

  • Own observability for the Agent Stream infrastructure, including cluster metrics, service-health dashboards, alert thresholds, and on-call runbooks.
  • Manage secrets and access controls through Azure Key Vault for both pipeline and runtime usage across all Agent Stream environments.
  • Ensure every agent service includes the instrumentation needed for platform-level tracing and auditability, such as structured logs, distributed tracing, and health endpoints.

Required Background

This role expects strong, production-level experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Azure DevOps, Azure AKS, Azure Container Registry, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, observability tools, scripting, PostgreSQL operations, and Istio in a production environment.

You should be comfortable designing and governing infrastructure and pipeline standards for multiple squads, not just building pipelines for a single team. The role also calls for practical familiarity with AI agent service architecture so you can make sound infrastructure choices without needing full application ownership.

Additional Requirements and Notes

Azure certification is not mandatory. GitHub Actions may be used as a secondary tool, but Azure DevOps is strongly preferred. If you work with security scanning tools such as Snyk or Checkmarx, that experience is relevant, though the main expectation is that you define and govern the standards rather than manually run every control yourself.

For Kubernetes, the expectation is real production operation experience, including cluster management, networking, storage, RBAC, resource policies, and troubleshooting under live conditions. For Terraform, the expectation is module-level design experience with approval-gated plan/apply flows, state management, and reusable modules. For observability, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent tooling is relevant.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
  • AZ-400 or AZ-104 certification.
