Job description
Role overview
Jacobs works on complex challenges that shape the future of cities, environments, critical facilities, scientific innovation, and advanced manufacturing. In this role, you will support the design of advanced facilities that improve everyday life and help create smarter, better connected, and more sustainable outcomes.
What you will do
- Turn verbal inputs, hand sketches, and digital notes from the Process Architect or Lead Architect into design alternatives, BIM models, and drawings derived from those models.
- Contribute to projects for pharmaceutical, FMCG, and microelectronics facilities, including related R&D spaces.
- Work with the functional needs of pharma facilities such as production areas, laboratories, and utility buildings, as well as microelectronics spaces like OSATs, FABs, and utility zones.
- Apply GMP-related considerations such as area classification, hazardous area classification, equipment layout, equipment move-in planning, and construction sequencing, taking guidance from the Process Architect when needed.
- Use your understanding of local planning rules, statutory requirements, and safety-in-design principles to support compliant design solutions.
- Manage the model through the required Level of Detail across project phases.
- Create architectural visual outputs such as renderings, walkthroughs, and 3D-printed models with advanced visualization tools and plugins, producing multiple options when the project demands it.
- Join model review and clash resolution discussions and, in the early stages, lead meetings until all disciplines are fully involved.
- Set up Revit models from the ground up, build templates for documentation and drawings, create parametric families, and use advanced 3D modeling tools effectively.
- Develop BIM models to support quantity take-offs for architectural elements and extract project drawings from Revit models as required.
Requirements
- You should have at least 6 years of experience working on advanced facilities.
- Hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical, FMCG, and microelectronics projects is expected.
- You need a solid understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, BIM workflows, and advanced 3D modeling.
- You should be able to interpret sketches and instructions and convert them into practical design outputs.
- Familiarity with GMP requirements, planning norms, statutory rules, and safety standards in design is important.
- You must be comfortable handling model coordination, clash resolution, and drawing extraction from Revit.
- Experience with visualization tools for renderings, walkthroughs, and model presentation is required.
