About the role
Jacobs is looking for an experienced Senior Town Planner to contribute to planning and consenting work across major infrastructure programmes. The position sits within a global Town Planning team of more than 2,000 professionals and supports projects in sectors such as Rail, Water, Energy, Transport, and Airports. This role is based in Cork, County Cork, Ireland, with a hybrid working arrangement.
What you will do
- Provide technical leadership on projects handled by the team.
- Build stronger client relationships and help expand Town Planning work across Ireland.
- Review legislation, national policy, and local planning frameworks to shape proposals and improve the chances of consent approval.
- Coordinate consent submissions, including planning applications and Strategic Infrastructure Development cases.
- Prepare and manage reports, development plan submissions, planning appraisals, Environmental Impact Assessment documentation, and appeal materials.
- Develop partnership-style relationships with stakeholders so that client needs are met effectively.
- Support the growth of the wider team through mentoring and guidance that promotes career development and team performance.
What you need
- A recognised planning qualification such as IPI or RTPI.
- Sound knowledge of Irish planning law and how it applies to infrastructure projects.
- The ability to translate policy and legislation into practical consenting strategies.
- Experience with bidding and tendering for both internal and external opportunities, along with commercial awareness.
- Previous involvement in Environmental Impact Assessment and its use in major development projects.
