Role Overview
As a Designer at Crate & Barrel, you will be instrumental in helping customers explore the possibilities of modern home design. Your expertise will assist clients in selecting everything from complete home furnishings to individual accent items, employing a broad understanding of design styles ranging from classic to contemporary. Utilizing digital tools during consultations both in-store and in clients' homes will be key to bringing design visions to reality.
Key Responsibilities
- Encourage sales growth and elevate the customer experience through engaging and personalized design conversations both in store, virtually, and at customers' homes.
- Develop sophisticated design packages using specialized software including mood boards, 2D and 3D floor plans, detailed product lists, and comprehensive presentations.
- Conduct timely design consultations across multiple channels including in-person, phone, email, and virtual meetings.
- Manage projects efficiently to meet deadlines and maintain brand standards.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of brand aesthetics and merchandising strategies across Store, E-Commerce, and Catalog channels.
- Stay informed on all product details such as features, maintenance, and competitive market trends.
- Meet individual sales targets, KPIs, and customer service goals; proactively engage customers leveraging proven selling techniques.
- Identify customer needs effectively to recommend suitable products and provide information about loyalty programs and other services.
- Demonstrate positivity and enthusiasm to ensure excellent, swift, and courteous customer service consistently.
- Support and contribute to store-wide training focused on design service offerings to enhance team knowledge.
- Establish and nurture lasting client relationships through professional networking and clienteling efforts.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of one year’s experience in furniture sales, home decor design, or customer service within a retail setting.
- Ability to work directly with clients and offer tailored recommendations.
- Familiarity with design concepts including spatial planning, fabric and lighting choices, and interior design styles.
- Excellent and prompt communication skills, capable of clearly relaying brand vision and client needs.
- Advanced proficiency in technology such as 2D and 3D design tools, Google Suite, video conferencing platforms, and tablet use, especially floor planning software.
- Commitment to keeping current with evolving design trends and market developments.
- Proven ability to build and maintain meaningful customer relationships.
- Adaptability and willingness to embrace change as the business evolves.
