Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Trade electricity derivatives including futures, OTC products, Financial Transmission Rights, and NZ Emission Units to enhance the value of Genesis's trading portfolio with both hedging and speculative strategies.
- Evaluate and negotiate significant short- and long-term hedge and forward transactions.
- Manage carbon products trading to meet Genesis's emission obligations and speculative interests.
- Monitor and review hedge and forward trading outcomes, delivering performance reports as needed.
- Conduct analysis, provide commentary, and recommend opportunities in the forward markets.
- Stay informed on global market trends and policy updates relating to emissions trading, advising the business accordingly.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in commodity trading or similar analytical roles within highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of electricity markets either within New Zealand or internationally.
- Proven ability to structure and document hedge agreements.
- Familiarity with New Zealand's emissions trading system.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a commercial or business discipline.
- A positive, reliable, and proactive team-oriented mindset with confidence in risk-taking and decision-making in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
