Role overview
As a Department Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day running of your department and help ensure the store operates smoothly. This role involves overseeing in-store processes, maintaining product availability, managing inventory, and keeping merchandising standards high.
You will also be responsible for promoting a safety-first culture by leading safety initiatives within your team and supporting a broader safe-working environment across the store. In addition, you will help build an inclusive workplace where team members can grow and perform at their best.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily store and departmental operations from end to end.
- Guide in-store execution, including stock control, product availability, and visual/merchandising standards.
- Champion workplace safety and lead safety-focused initiatives within the team and store.
- Create a positive, inclusive environment that supports team development and performance.
What the role calls for
The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading teams, building strong working relationships, and supporting change. You should be organised, detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to work well with others.
This position also requires the ability to put safety procedures into practice, support compliance with SOP requirements, deliver safety training, assist with injury management, and encourage a safe workplace. Strong communication skills are important, especially when working with a varied workforce. You should also be able to balance several priorities at once, including team needs and customer expectations.
Confidence in using data to review sales, anticipate trends, and support strategic decisions is also important.
Benefits
- Team member discounts across the wider company network, including Target, Kmart, Bunnings, and Officeworks.
- Free OnePass membership with free delivery on eligible Target and Kmart items.
- Access to a benefits program with discounts and offers across entertainment, travel, lifestyle, and health from more than 60 providers.
- Eligibility for a bonus program for eligible team members as recognition for commitment and hard work.
- Inclusive parental leave and support through Circle In for team members from all backgrounds and family situations.
- Ongoing learning and development support.
- Kudos recognition program.
- Opportunity for eligible employees to buy shares through salary sacrifice.
- Career growth opportunities across the broader Wesfarmers Group.
