Department Manager

Role overview

As a Department Manager, you will help drive store sales and profit by shaping and executing a plan that delivers an excellent customer experience within your department and across the store. You will also be responsible for building a strong team, supporting individual growth, and using structured performance management, succession planning, and talent development to strengthen results, values, and leadership.

This role follows H&M standards, policies, procedures, and legal requirements to ensure expectations are met for both customers and colleagues.

You will report to the Store Manager, and Sales Advisors will report directly to you.

Key responsibilities

• Set the direction for your department so colleagues and customers enjoy the best possible experience.
• Review team performance, share regular feedback, and support development through coaching and training.
• Track sales and profit KPIs, then analyse results and follow up on performance trends.
• Make sure health, safety, security, and legal obligations are consistently met in line with H&M standards and local regulations.
• Support stock allocation and replenishment by giving input to the Store Manager and Area Teams, while also flagging risks, opportunities, and competitor-related developments.

Candidate profile

H&M is looking for someone who is inclusive, upbeat, creative, and eager to learn while delivering excellent customer service. You should enjoy helping people express their style and be comfortable in a busy, detail-focused environment.

The role also suits a person who can handle several tasks at once, stay flexible, and work well in a fast-moving retail setting. Experience in managing teams and working in customer-facing roles is important, along with an understanding of commercial performance and visual presentation.

Additional information
