Role overview

Elgas Limited is hiring a dependable and physically capable delivery driver in Christchurch, New Zealand. The role suits someone with Class 2 driving experience, a strong safety mindset, and a clean criminal record.

Working pattern

This is a Monday-to-Friday position with a start time of around 6:30 AM and a finish no later than 5:00 PM. You should also be available for occasional Saturdays.

What you will be doing

You will deliver and fill LPG gas cylinders for residential and commercial customers across the region. The job involves direct customer interaction, so you may need to respond to questions and provide assistance on site. Because the work includes handling dangerous goods, accuracy and strict adherence to health and safety practices are essential.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have a clean Class 2 licence and at least two years of Class 2 driving experience. Experience driving manual vehicles and previously delivering goods will help you succeed in the role. You should also be physically fit enough to lift heavy items during deliveries.

Experience with a Dangerous Goods licence and LPG filling is preferred, although training may be provided for the right person. Strong customer service skills, adaptability, local area knowledge, and the ability to use handheld delivery devices are also important. A proactive attitude toward health and safety, teamwork, and a willingness to meet operational demands are key.

Checks and screening

Successful applicants must be able to pass background checks, including criminal and ACC history reviews, as well as medical and drug and alcohol screening.
