Job description

About the company

Deloitte is a place where you are encouraged to bring your individuality, curiosity, and drive. The organisation values people who want to make a meaningful contribution, work with strong teams, and help solve important problems with real-world impact.

The environment is suited to people who enjoy guiding teams, supporting organisational change, developing others, and helping clients realise business value through quality technology delivery.

The team

You will join a delivery function focused on shaping and delivering digitally enabled programmes that create measurable change. The team works across complex environments and partners closely with clients and internal stakeholders to turn ideas into practical outcomes.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys tackling difficult challenges, collaborating across groups, and contributing to projects in sectors such as health, the public sector, and banking.

Role overview

As Delivery Director, you will lead the delivery of large, complex programmes and projects that may involve multiple workstreams, vendors, stakeholders, and governance structures. Your focus will be on delivery leadership, strategic oversight, and assurance across the full transformation lifecycle.

Key duties

  • Direct major technology delivery programmes across varied solutions and sectors including health, public sector, and financial services.
  • Set direction for several delivery streams so that execution stays aligned with business goals and governance requirements.
  • Advise clients on delivery approach, programme design, and ways to reduce or manage risk.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams while promoting ownership, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.
  • Handle complex and uncertain situations, removing blockers and steering programmes toward successful outcomes.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract performance to ensure commercial and delivery alignment.
  • Work with senior leaders, boards, and steering groups to provide clear visibility and confidence in delivery progress.
  • Support delivery assurance work, programme recovery efforts, and independent health assessments where needed.
  • Contribute to business growth through client relationship building, opportunity development, and solution shaping.
  • Promote strong delivery practices across the organisation by using global assets, accelerators, and proven methods.

Qualifications and experience

You should bring substantial experience leading complex programme and project delivery, along with a solid command of the end-to-end solution delivery lifecycle.

  • 15+ years’ experience in programme and project delivery, including leadership of large and complex initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the solution delivery lifecycle and technology delivery from start to finish.
  • Deep knowledge of governance, risk control, and executive-level stakeholder management.
  • Proven capability in managing multi-stream programmes with varied vendors, teams, and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall settings, with the ability to adapt methods to the situation.
  • Strong commercial judgement, including negotiating contracts, overseeing vendors, and monitoring financial performance.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to gain trust and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in public sector, health, financial services, or other regulated industries is highly desirable.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or MSP are required.
  • Background in delivery assurance, programme recovery, and strategic advisory work is a strong plus.
