Role Overview

The Day Care Support Worker role is within the Education & Training Department, working closely with the Early Learning Program to provide childcare services for children aged 19 months to 4 years in Old Crow. This position involves identifying emerging concerns, coordinating care, and assisting in policy and program development, including support for children with special needs requiring patience and understanding.

Primary Duties

  • Deliver daily childcare services at the Early Childhood Education Centre for local residents and Citizens aged 19 months to 4 years.
  • Organize social events for children and monitor any needs for additional support in individual cases.
  • Contribute to planning and evaluating learning and service plans collaboratively with the Manager, Early Learning Program.
  • Engage in case management meetings with staff to ensure integrated, coordinated care and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing policies and procedures to enhance Early Childhood Education service delivery.
  • Perform administrative duties, including handling inquiries, distributing information, and maintaining confidential records.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wage ranging from $37.34 to $56.00 based on education and experience.
  • Biweekly working hours totaling 80 hours.
  • 4% Northern Community Remoteness Allowance for full-time residents of Old Crow.
  • 4% Northern Travel Allowance applicable for full-time Old Crow residents.
  • Four weeks of vacation annually, plus two weeks paid leave during the Christmas season.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education or certification in early childhood development, preferably Level 3, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in designing and implementing Early Childhood Education programs; background in Indigenous community settings is advantageous.
  • Proven experience collaborating with external organizations to implement community-level ECE programming.
