About the Role

This position is for a Database Team Lead (DBA) who combines deep database administration expertise with leadership skills. The role focuses on keeping the database landscape stable, performant, secure, and ready to evolve with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee database platforms so they remain highly available, fast, and dependable.
• Set up, support, and maintain PRE-PROD, UAT, and PROD database environments.
• Guide and coach a team of Level I and Level II DBAs, while promoting effective knowledge sharing.
• Use a maker-checker control process to review changes for risk, compliance, and operational impact.
• Coordinate database initiatives and ensure they support both technical direction and business goals.
• Promote ongoing improvements through automation, standard processes, and tuning efforts.
• Maintain compliance with security expectations, operational standards, and reporting obligations.
• Respond to incidents, investigate root causes, and drive timely fixes, including support outside normal hours when needed.

Job Requirements

• 7 to 10 years of strong experience in database administration.
• Practical, hands-on knowledge of Oracle, GoldenGate, JBoss, Unix, and Red Hat environments.
• Ability to take full ownership of work, remain dependable, and meet commitments consistently.
• Willingness to participate in on-call support and handle urgent incidents effectively.
• Clear communication skills with a track record of delivering what was promised.
• Strong documentation habits and the ability to introduce automation wherever possible.
• A proactive, adaptable approach with interest in new technologies and innovation.
• Commitment to mentoring others and strengthening team capability.
• Relevant certifications in Oracle, GoldenGate, and associated technologies are mandatory.
• Systems engineering certifications will be considered an added advantage.
