Role overview
This position is for a Data Scraping Specialist who can gather, structure, and standardize information from public and government datasets, turning it into dependable, usable outputs.
Working schedule
The role follows a Monday to Friday shift from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST.
Key responsibilities
- Locate and evaluate public-sector and government data sources.
- Pull data from websites, APIs, feeds, FTP locations, and online repositories, then transform it into consistent formats.
- Develop ETL pipelines and workflows that can be reused, scaled, and maintained over time rather than relying on one-time scripts.
- Use Python, HTTP requests, and HTML parsing methods to carry out advanced scraping tasks.
- Check data quality by spotting inconsistencies, validating samples, and recording methods and process steps.
- Work with version control in Git, follow strong development practices, and keep communication clear with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven background in web scraping, data extraction, and working with both structured and unstructured data.
- Practical programming ability in Python or a similar language, along with familiarity with APIs, HTTP, FTP, HTML parsing, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Strong written and technical English skills.
- Ability to analyze difficult data acquisition problems, improve solutions, and work independently on technical tasks.
- Careful attention to validation, normalization, and documentation quality.
