About the Role

This is a remote internship opportunity with a client company for a motivated Data Science Intern. The position is suited to someone who enjoys solving practical business challenges through data and can collaborate effectively with a distributed team working across Canada time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and delivery of data-led solutions for business problems.
  • Clean, prepare, and analyze both structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Help build and assess machine learning models with supervision from senior data scientists.
  • Carry out exploratory data analysis and turn findings into clear, useful recommendations.
  • Work closely with teams across engineering, product, and business functions.
  • Assist with data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting outputs.
  • Record processes, approaches, and results in a clear and organized way.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment in, or recent completion of, a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Solid working knowledge of Python, including Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, and clustering.
  • Experience using data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or similar libraries.
  • Comfort working with SQL and databases.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to work remotely while overlapping with US/Canada time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to deep learning tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Understanding of practical data science use cases such as recommendation systems, NLP, or forecasting.
  • Previous internship or project experience in data science or analytics.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control tools.

Location

This role is remote, with the expectation that the intern can work during overlapping hours with Canada and the US.

Compensation

A competitive stipend is offered, with the exact amount depending on experience and the client’s budget.
