Job description
Role overview
An established financial services organisation is looking for a seasoned Data Governance Senior Manager to support a major regulatory data transformation initiative. This position sits at a senior level and focuses on strengthening enterprise data management, reporting, and governance in a tightly regulated setting.
You will work closely with leaders and teams across risk, technology, finance, and data to provide independent review, challenge, and oversight of key governance and reporting arrangements. The role is suited to someone who can help improve data quality, support compliance obligations, and contribute to a more resilient operating environment.
With exposure to large-scale regulatory change, complex data landscapes, and executive stakeholders, this is a strong opportunity for an experienced professional who wants to make a visible impact in a forward-looking organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out independent reviews of data governance, data quality, and regulatory reporting structures across the organisation.
- Examine the full reporting chain, including how data is sourced, transformed, combined, and controlled.
- Evaluate data lineage, metadata practices, and reporting architecture against internal expectations and regulatory standards.
- Offer informed challenge and oversight to business and technology teams on data management and control effectiveness.
- Spot data-related risks, weaknesses in controls, and opportunities to improve processes, then record findings and recommendations clearly.
- Assist in tracking remediation work to confirm that identified issues are resolved appropriately.
- Work with senior stakeholders in Risk, Finance, Technology, Data Management, and Regulatory Reporting.
- Develop concise reports, presentations, and briefing documents for executives and governance groups.
- Help improve data governance frameworks, validation approaches, and reporting controls over time.
- Keep up to date with new regulatory expectations and sector best practices in data governance, reporting, and risk management.
Experience and requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management, Audit, Validation, or a similar field.
- Strong background in regulated financial services environments.
- Practical knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Solid understanding of risk data aggregation, reporting controls, and regulatory reporting workflows.
- Experience analysing complex data movements, reporting logic, and control environments.
- Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and sound judgement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the creation of executive-level documentation.
- Experience supporting regulatory reviews, audits, or assurance work is beneficial.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent third-level qualification in IT, Computer Science, Data Management, Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related area.
- Professional certifications in Data Governance, Risk Management, Audit, or Regulatory Compliance are an advantage.
