Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support complex data and analytics projects within the healthcare payer industry, working fully remotely from Canton, MA. This position involves partnering with business and technical teams to design scalable solutions, enhance data integrity, produce documentation, and deliver valuable insights using SQL, ETL, and data management tools.
Key Duties
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather data requirements and reporting needs.
- Conduct functional and gap analyses along with defining business requirements.
- Analyze intricate healthcare payer data to extract actionable insights.
- Create and optimize complex SQL and PL/SQL queries for data retrieval.
- Support ETL processes, manage data integrations, and contribute to data engineering tasks.
- Prepare technical documentation including specifications, data mappings, and solution designs.
- Develop comprehensive test cases, plans, and validation methods.
- Perform data validation, quality assurance checks, and defect investigations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production data and reporting problems.
- Identify and recommend resolutions for data quality issues.
- Work closely with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and project stakeholders.
- Assist in analytical reporting activities using SAS, Excel, and similar tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field.
- More than 7 years of experience analyzing data within a healthcare payer setting.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare insurance and payer domain concepts.
- Advanced proficiency with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle databases.
- At least 5 years of practical experience in ETL and data engineering processes.
- Five or more years working with Teradata systems.
- Extensive experience in functional and gap analysis, along with defining business requirements.
- Ability to develop technical documentation, test cases, and plans.
- Strong skills in data quality assurance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Proven capacity to work collaboratively with business and technical teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAS software.
- Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including Pivot Tables.
- History of developing analytical and operational reports.
- Familiarity supporting healthcare payer-related datasets such as claims, membership, provider, and enrollment data.
