Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage freight customs clearance documentation processes for customers.
- Liaise regularly with customs authorities to ensure smooth clearance operations.
- Provide outstanding customer service, acting as the go-to expert on customs compliance matters.
- Support issue resolution related to customs compliance between customers and the company.
- Review, update, and enforce company policies, procedures, and controls related to customs compliance.
- Ensure all customers and businesses comply with relevant customs regulations.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, risk mitigation, and IT enhancements promoting compliance and strengthened controls.
- Collaborate within the Expeditors Network regionally to standardize approaches and share best practices.
- Work closely with key account customers to meet their specific customs-related needs.
- Stay informed about and implement updates in customs regulations and practices.
- Ensure accurate processing of duties and VAT and prompt collection as required.
- Manage resolution of any queries or refunds related to customs dealings swiftly.
- Maintain and revise all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (DLSOPs) efficiently and assist sales and account teams by suggesting cost-saving strategies.
- Conduct daily and weekly audits on customs entries.
- Develop and deliver training for new and existing staff regarding customs compliance updates.
- Be prepared to work in shift patterns as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in customs brokerage or an equivalent educational background.
- Strong familiarity with Irish customs procedures and systems.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to relate well with customers and colleagues at all organizational levels.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Windows, email, and various PC-based software tools.
