Role overview
The Customer Relationship Manager will report to the Department Manager and help strengthen relationships with both current and prospective clients. The role focuses on customer retention, account growth, and delivering a consistently high level of service through clear written and verbal communication.
This position requires a strong understanding of customer needs, the ability to respond quickly to questions, and the confidence to recommend practical solutions. The role also involves identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell services while managing and growing an assigned book of business.
To succeed, you will need to build a solid understanding of the company’s full range of services so you can support clients effectively and contribute to business development.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Communicate with clients effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Respond to customer questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify customer needs and recommend suitable solutions.
- Support customer satisfaction by offering insights and practical guidance.
- Develop opportunities to upsell and cross-sell company services.
- Manage and retain an assigned portfolio of business.
- Gain a detailed understanding of the company’s products and services to better support client needs.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the business.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in sales or operations within a 3PL freight forwarding environment.
- Experience with ocean, air, ground, brokerage, or warehousing operations is an advantage.
- A college diploma in business or a related discipline is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- CIFFA certification is considered an added advantage.
- Willingness to undertake local travel when needed.
- Ability to ask the right questions, listen attentively, and understand customer needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the confidence to suggest effective solutions.
- Self-driven, persistent, confident, and motivated to achieve results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
