Job description
Role overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will be the friendly face of the business while delivering shopping directly to customers’ homes. The job goes beyond simply driving: it combines customer service, safe handling of goods, and consistent, dependable delivery. The work is active, varied, and largely independent, with support available from managers and colleagues at the store when needed.
Working hours
The available shift window runs on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 09:00 to 21:00.
The role guarantees at least 16 hours each week, and there are also opportunities available from 12 hours per week.
Pay
Starting pay is £14.18 per hour. In stores located within the M25, the rate increases to £15.45 per hour. Some locations may also include extra payments.
Key duties
Your day-to-day work will include preparing and checking the delivery van, keeping the vehicle and work area clean and well organised, and making sure every order is loaded safely and the van is roadworthy before heading out.
You will also speak with customers about changes to their order, including substitutions or items close to their date limit, and offer refunds when required so the delivery experience stays smooth and positive.
Products must be handled carefully at all stages, with every order treated as though it were your own to protect quality and maintain customer confidence.
Deliveries must be completed within the promised time slot, with warm and natural service at the doorstep so customers feel valued and well looked after.
What you need
This role calls for someone who can build good working relationships with colleagues, contribute to a positive team atmosphere, and provide excellent service to customers.
You should be welcoming and approachable with both customers and teammates, and able to adapt quickly when customer needs or store conditions change.
A valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence is required, either full or automatic, held for at least 12 months, and you must have no more than 3 penalty points.
Benefits
You’ll receive holiday entitlement starting at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, along with Bank Holidays.
Flexible working is available from the first day.
You’ll get 10% off with the colleague Clubcard, rising to 15% on pay-day weekends, plus a second card that can be shared with family.
Additional benefits include free wellbeing services, life cover worth five times your pay, an award-winning pension with matched contributions up to 7.5%, and a choice of extra benefits such as discounts, shares, and cycle-to-work options.
A uniform is provided, along with workplace policies designed to support you through important life moments.
About the employer
The company aims to be customers’ preferred place to shop by serving customers, communities, and the planet a little better every day through responsible and sustainable action.
It is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and wants every colleague to feel represented and able to be themselves.
Flexible working conversations are welcomed during the application process, and the organisation is proud to be a Disability Confident Leader with an accessible and inclusive recruitment approach.
