Job description

About the role

Tesco is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers to join its Gorey team in Wexford. The role is the first point of contact for customers and is focused on delivering a reliable home shopping experience. This is a practical, active job with a wide range of tasks, and each shift can bring something different. Drivers work independently for much of the day, while still being supported by managers and colleagues based at the depot.

Shift pattern: various shifts are available.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality home shopping service with customers at the centre of every action.
  • Load the vehicle where needed and make sure it is roadworthy before starting deliveries.
  • Follow the assigned schedule and route plan prepared for the shift.
  • Present a neat appearance in the required uniform and be ready to assist customers.
  • Drive safely, responsibly, and in compliance with all road laws.
  • Be considerate and respectful to all other road users.
  • Greet customers warmly, including using their name where appropriate.
  • Handle customer deliveries carefully and treat each order as if it were your own.

Requirements

  • A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
  • No more than 3 penalty points on the licence.
  • A strong record of safe and courteous driving.
  • Interest in helping others and providing good customer service.
  • A friendly, approachable manner, good humour, and strong communication skills.
  • The ability to use initiative and apply common sense.
  • A genuine commitment to making a positive difference for customers and colleagues.
  • The ability to remain calm when under pressure.

Additional conditions

All job offers are subject to Garda Vetting. Candidates must provide proof of current penalty points at the assessment stage. This can be obtained from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) by calling 1890 41 61 41, selecting Option 4, and quoting your driver number.

Candidates who have been disqualified from driving within the last 10 years are not eligible to apply.

If selected, candidates must provide bank account details before the agreed start date, and the offer will remain conditional until this is completed.

Benefits

  • Access to a range of shift options.
  • Part-time and full-time contracts, with working hours between 20 and 39 per week.
  • Starting pay of €18.24 per hour for new drivers, plus extra pay for Sunday shifts.
  • Annual bonus scheme.
  • Colleague Clubcard discounts: 10% in stores and online, 15% on weekends once a month from Friday to Sunday, and 20% twice a year, plus 20% off F&F clothing all year. These discounts can also be extended to a family member through a second Clubcard, subject to scheme rules.
  • Free and confidential Virtual GP access, including video consultations and online prescriptions; family members living at the same address can use the service at a reduced cost.
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme with immediate emotional support and wellbeing services for colleagues and family members.
  • Life assurance.
  • Pension plan, subject to scheme rules.
  • Save As You Earn scheme, subject to scheme rules.
  • Paid family leave.
  • Bike to Work scheme.
  • Long service awards.
  • Commuter scheme.
