Job description
Role overview
Tesco Ireland is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers to join the team in Bailieborough. In this role, you will be the first person customers meet, representing the business while delivering groceries and providing a reliable home shopping service. The work is active, varied, and hands-on, with each shift bringing different customer needs. While you’ll spend most of the day working independently on deliveries, support is available from managers and colleagues at the base whenever needed.
Working pattern
There are multiple shift options available. Contracts are offered on both part-time and full-time bases, with weekly hours ranging from 20 to 39.
Key duties
Your main focus will be to ensure customers receive a smooth and positive delivery experience. This includes preparing the van, following the planned route, driving legally and safely, and handling each delivery with care and professionalism. You’ll also be expected to present yourself neatly in uniform and interact with customers in a friendly, helpful way.
Role requirements
Applicants must hold a full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, for at least 2 years and have no more than 3 penalty points. You should be a careful and considerate driver who enjoys helping people, communicates well, uses common sense, shows initiative, and remains calm when under pressure. Tesco also requires candidates to be willing to go through Garda Vetting and to provide evidence of current penalty points during the assessment stage. If you have been disqualified from driving at any point in the last 10 years, your application cannot be accepted.
Recruitment and onboarding conditions
A job offer will depend on the Garda Vetting Process. Candidates must also provide proof of their current penalty points from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) at assessment stage by calling 1890 41 61 41, selecting Option 4, and quoting their driver number. If successful, you will need to share your bank account details before your agreed start date.
Benefits
Tesco offers a broad benefits package, including flexible shift options, an annual bonus scheme, and a range of colleague discounts. New drivers are paid €18.24 per hour, plus an extra premium for Sunday shifts. Other benefits include access to a virtual GP service, confidential employee support, life assurance, pension plan, Save As You Earn scheme, paid family leave, Bike to Work, long service awards, and a commuter scheme. Some schemes have entry rules and conditions.
