Customer Delivery Driver (16 Hours)

About the role

This position is for a Customer Delivery Driver at Tesco’s Ammanford Superstore. The role is customer-facing, hands-on, and varied, with no two shifts the same. You will be delivering groceries directly to customers’ homes, representing Tesco on the road, and providing friendly, reliable service with a positive attitude.

Availability and working pattern

The expected availability window for this role is:

• Sunday: 18:00 to 23:00
• Monday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Friday: 18:00 to 23:00
• Saturday: 13:00 to 23:00

The role comes with a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. Tesco may also consider candidates who want fewer hours, down to a minimum of 12. Your contracted hours will be scheduled within the availability window, and you will normally receive three weeks’ notice of your exact shifts. Flexible availability that closely matches the advertised times may still be considered.

Pay and package

The hourly pay starts at £14.18. For stores inside the M25, the starting rate increases to £15.45 per hour. Extra location-based payments may also be available.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will handle deliveries safely and professionally while making sure customers receive the right support and service. The job includes checking vehicle readiness, loading goods, maintaining cleanliness, handling substitutions and refunds where needed, and communicating clearly with customers and the store when plans change.

What the role involves

• Delivering customer orders within the agreed time slot.
• Keeping the van, trays, and loading area clean, tidy, and organised.
• Making sure trays are washed as part of the tray-wash process.
• Loading the van appropriately and checking it is roadworthy before setting off.
• Speaking with customers about any changes to their order, including short-code items and substitutions.
• Offering refunds for items customers are unhappy with.
• Treating all products and deliveries carefully, as if they were your own.
• Explaining that customers will not pay extra for substitutions.
• Calling the customer ahead of arrival if you are early.
• Contacting the store or centre if you expect to be 30 minutes or more late.
• Keeping the yard clean, tidy, and free of rubbish, and picking up litter when seen.
