Job overview
The custodian is accountable for keeping assigned spaces clean, sanitary, and well maintained.
Key duties
- Carry out janitorial cleaning tasks across the assigned location.
- Complete the items listed on the daily work schedule.
- Handle hazardous waste work, including collection, sorting, classification, storage, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste materials.
- Use motorized cleaning equipment as needed.
- Keep the assigned area maintained and tidy each day.
- Escalate accidents, unsafe situations, and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Follow safety rules, site procedures, policies, and work instructions.
- Intervene when unsafe actions are observed, including your own or others’ behavior.
- Work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Handle repetitive work tasks consistently and accurately.
- Keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
- Follow company protocols, rules, and standard operating procedures.
- Accept direction from supervisors and respond appropriately to oversight.
- Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
- Step in to cover work during staffing shortages.
- Help the shift lead finish punch-list items.
- Use the correct personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance and professional conduct.
- Understand the importance of customer service and customer satisfaction.
- Work with reporting systems and support environmental-related responsibilities.
Qualifications
No formal education is required. A combination of education and experience is acceptable. Ideally, candidates bring 3 to 6 months of training or related experience.
Certifications and licenses
- A valid driver’s license may be required.
- Completion of safety and task training certifications is required.
- Forklift certification may be required.

Physical requirements

Work schedule and compensation
The shift runs Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. Pay is $13.75 to $14.75 per hour.
