Job description
Role overview
This is a senior commercial leadership position for Germany and Austria within a global pharmaceutical business with a strong presence in hospital and critical care. The portfolio includes inhaled anaesthesia, injectable pain treatments, and additional specialty products, with further launches planned. The assignment is a high-visibility opportunity to drive growth, lead transformation, and build a stronger market position in a major European geography.
Scope of the role
The appointed leader will take complete responsibility for the German and Austrian markets and report to the International Commercial Business Leader VP in the UK. The mandate is to reset performance, build a sharper commercial model, improve customer and tender execution, and strengthen the field and key account organization. The role also offers exposure to global leadership and the possibility of broader European responsibility in the future.
Key outcomes
- Take end-to-end ownership of P&L delivery for Germany and Austria.
- Convert market potential into a concrete commercial plan and timeline.
- Improve tender management, pricing discipline, and GPO execution.
- Prioritize customers and accounts using an 80/20 approach.
- Raise the effectiveness, reach, and output of the KAM team.
- Introduce a structured operating rhythm based on data and performance tracking.
- Represent the commercial perspective for Germany both internally and externally.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant is a practical, hands-on commercial leader who can balance strategy with execution. The role calls for strong senior leadership experience in the German hospital market, deep knowledge of institutional purchasing, and proven capability in tenders, pricing, turnaround situations, or growth acceleration. Experience leading and improving commercial teams is important, along with full accountability for results and profitability.
Location and language requirements
The position requires fluency in German and English. The candidate should be based in Germany, preferably in the Munich area, where the legal entity is established.
Sector experience
Prior experience in critical care is preferred, especially in areas such as inhaled anaesthesia, injectable pain, and specialty products used in neonatology. The successful candidate should be credible with clinicians, procurement stakeholders, and hospital executives, and comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-responsibility environment.

- Chance to shape the country organization and its commercial direction.
- Existing portfolio with meaningful future launch potential.
- Direct exposure to senior international leadership.
- Potential to grow into a wider European leadership role over time.
