Role Overview
Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is seeking a Coordinator of Special Projects for TCAT Shelbyville. This is a full-time, dual-function role combining project management (approximately 60%) and classroom instruction (approximately 40%). The successful candidate will coordinate institutional initiatives for the President while teaching Technology Foundations courses to adult and high school students across multiple campuses. Applicants should be comfortable managing projects, analyzing data, and teaching in a classroom environment.
Project Coordination (approx. 60%)
In this capacity, you will serve as a hands-on project coordinator supporting the President and campus leadership across multiple TCAT Shelbyville locations. You will plan and manage institutional initiatives, develop project timelines, track deliverables, communicate progress to stakeholders, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks. You will also support data collection and reporting, assist with grant documentation, and coordinate special events. This work requires strong attention to detail, comfort with data and reports, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously across campuses in Shelbyville, Winchester, and Fayetteville. Examples of special projects may include coordinating accreditation initiatives, supporting grant-funded activities, managing student success projects, organizing special events, compiling institutional reports, and assisting with campus-wide process improvement initiatives. You will work closely with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners, so clear communication and professionalism are essential.
Instruction – Technology Foundations (approx. 40%)
Teaching is a meaningful part of this role. You will deliver Technology Foundations courses to both high school and adult students at our campuses in Shelbyville, Winchester, and Fayetteville — bringing foundational skills in computer applications, digital literacy, and data interpretation directly to the communities we serve. This position requires two evening shifts per week; your schedule will be adjusted accordingly so that total hours remain within the standard 37.5-hour work week. These courses are purposefully designed to open doors — equipping students with the practical skills they need to succeed in further education and in today's workforce. You will administer and interpret placement and progress assessments, track student performance, maintain accurate records, and work with other instructors and staff to support student retention and completion. Instructional materials will need to be kept current, and you will participate in curriculum updates as needed. This instructional role is a consistent, ongoing part of the position. The right candidate will be comfortable in front of a classroom and committed to student success, just as much as they are to managing projects behind the scenes.
Travel and Schedule Expectations
Regular travel between the Shelbyville, Winchester, and Fayetteville campuses is required. Instructional assignments and project responsibilities may take place at any campus based on institutional needs, and the successful candidate should expect to work at all three locations throughout the month. This position requires two evening teaching assignments per week. Work schedules will be adjusted accordingly so that total hours remain within the standard 37.5-hour work week. Typical daytime hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (minimum 37.5 hours/week).
