Job description

Role overview

This role is focused on preparing, cooking, portioning, and presenting a range of hot and cold menu items across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered or special-service occasions. The position supports patient and customer meal service in a fast-paced kitchen setting and may include other related duties as assigned by the department.

What you will do

  • Prepare food and, when needed, serve guests at an à la carte counter or grill station for patients and customers.
  • Produce meals in line with current federal, state, and company standards, along with all applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Interpret written orders or verbal instructions and cook meals to the required specification, quality, and timing.
  • Deliver consistently strong service to support customer satisfaction.
  • Follow standard recipes and product instructions when seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foods.
  • Use kitchen equipment to measure and combine ingredients and to wash, peel, chop, shred, trim, and cut produce, meat, poultry, or fish under guidance.
  • Assess food needs, review menus, monitor production, taste items, and maintain records to help plan production and request supplies and equipment accurately.
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and sanitized, while following all departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to safety, risk management, and HACCP procedures to maintain food safety for patients and customers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of relevant kitchen experience is required.
  • Experience with basic kitchen equipment, ideally in a short-order restaurant or a similar large-scale food service environment, is needed.

Compensation

The pay range provided for this role is 16.29 to 26.08 per hour, with compensation aligned to equity and experience for positions of similar scope and responsibility.
