Canteen is looking to add cooks on both full-time and part-time schedules at Piper Aviation in Vero Beach, Florida. This role focuses on preparing food to company, regulatory, and safety standards while keeping service quality consistent throughout the day.
Work location and schedule
The position is based at Piper Aviation, 2926 Piper Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32960. Applications are accepted online only. Shifts run Monday through Friday between 5:00 am and 4:00 pm, with final schedule details shared during the interview.
Pay and hiring details
The pay range for this opening is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. The company is hiring immediately, and an internal employee referral bonus is available.

What you will do
- Prepare food items following standardized recipes, approved procedures, and production timelines.
- Serve meals or prepare them for delivery with proper portions, safe temperatures, and appealing presentation.
- Use ticket collection procedures during service and keep accurate records for the area worked.
- Clean the kitchen after food preparation and service, and handle leftovers according to food safety rules.
- Keep refrigerators and storage areas organized, clean, and stocked according to standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain it as instructed.
- Support production planning, reporting, and record keeping when needed.
- Help with ordering and receiving food and supply items as required.
- Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, and incidents to a supervisor right away.
- Attend safety sessions and in-service meetings.
- Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
- Work safely while contributing to a clean and hazard-free environment.
- Complete additional duties assigned by the employer.
- Follow presentation standards, portion control rules, and HACCP requirements.
- Use proper protective gear and safe handling practices, including cut-resistant gloves, heat protection gloves, slip-resistant shoes, and correct lifting methods.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of prior cooking experience is required.
- Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
- Comfort with kitchen equipment, safe food handling, and organized production workflows.
- Willingness to work the scheduled weekday shift pattern and complete duties in a food service setting.
