Job description
About Youturn
Youturn is a not-for-profit community organisation delivering social, community and health services across Australia. With over 35 years of experience, it supports people of all ages through housing, community and family support, mental health services, and bereavement support for people affected by suicide. The organisation is guided by values of Integrity, Respect, Inclusion, Learning and Stewardship, and places the needs, voices and lived experiences of individuals, families and communities at the centre of its work.
About the Role
The Contract Lead will support the StandBy service network by ensuring contracts are translated into effective service delivery. This role goes beyond standard contract administration and focuses on making sure providers deliver safe, consistent and high-quality support, with risks identified early and accountability maintained throughout the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee contracts connected to StandBy services and ensure obligations are clearly understood and delivered.
- Coordinate contract setup, amendments and renewals in line with funding and organisational requirements.
- Maintain strong governance practices and accurate documentation to protect service integrity.
- Track provider performance, identify patterns, risks and opportunities, and act on findings.
- Facilitate constructive performance discussions that are focused on outcomes and improvement.
- Support issue resolution with practical judgement and a steady approach.
- Keep compliance, audit readiness and assurance activities on track.
- Work closely with providers, commissioning teams and internal stakeholders.
- Act as a dependable contact point across the service network and help strengthen working relationships.
What You Bring
The role suits someone who understands that strong contracts should improve outcomes, not simply reporting. You should be comfortable having honest conversations about performance, balancing detail with broader service goals, and working through complexity while keeping purpose in focus. The position also requires someone who can influence effectively without relying on hierarchy.
- Experience in contract management, provider oversight, commissioning or service performance.
- Solid knowledge of governance, compliance and accountability in funded settings.
- Ability to interpret performance information and turn it into practical action.
- Confidence working through risk, uncertainty and competing priorities.
- Well-developed communication and relationship-building abilities.
- A mindset oriented toward continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
Youturn is open to a range of backgrounds, but candidates will typically have a relevant tertiary qualification in business, public administration, health, human services, law or a related field. Experience in contract management, provider management, commissioning, compliance or performance oversight is expected, particularly in government-funded, regulated or complex service environments. Exposure to performance reporting, compliance monitoring or assurance work will be highly regarded. Applicants with different experience paths are still encouraged to apply if they can do the work effectively.
Why Join Youturn | StandBy
- Contribute to a service with national impact.
- Be part of work that supports people during deeply significant moments.
- Collaborate with motivated, purpose-led professionals.

What is Offered
- Competitive salary between $110,102.00 and $114,983.00.
- 12% superannuation.
- Salary packaging up to $15,900 plus an additional $2,650 for meal entertainment.
- Access to further salary packaging benefits where eligible, including remote area benefits, relocation expenses and car parking.
