Job Overview
This position involves overseeing all commercial and contractual aspects of a project from initiation through completion. The incumbent will take charge of the administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with stipulated conditions, and managing financial elements such as budgets and cash flows effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee commercial activities before and after contract award throughout the project duration.
- Administer contracts according to specific contract clauses and policies.
- Assess, negotiate, and respond to variations, claims, and changes in the project scope.
- Create and keep track of project budgets, financial reports, and forecasts regarding cash flow.
- Review contractor payment requests and approve certifications as appropriate.
- Lead communications related to commercial and contractual matters between clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Identify potential contract risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Enforce adherence to contractual terms, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Assist in procurement processes, including tender evaluations and awarding contracts.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to maintain firm commercial control throughout all phases.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field is required.
- A minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience specifically in contract and commercial management roles.
- Demonstrated experience working in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and hospitality sector projects is essential.
- Sound knowledge of FIDIC contracts and international standards for construction contract administration.
- Proven skills in managing contract variations, claims, cost controls, and commercial reporting.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Professional accreditations like MRICS, MCIOB, or their equivalents are preferred.
