Job description
Role Overview
This opportunity is for a consultant within McKinsey’s two-year Operations Excellence Program (OEP), focused on manufacturing. In this role, you will work on client engagements much like any other consultant in the firm, contributing to problem solving, analysis, and recommendations that help clients improve their operations.
What You’ll Do
You will help client teams identify key issues, build hypotheses, perform analyses, and turn findings into clear recommendations. The role combines hands-on consulting work with structured development through coaching, training, and capability-building.
Over the first years in the firm, you will rotate across multiple client engagements, collaborate with colleagues and clients across different industries and operations service lines, and build deep expertise in operational excellence. You will also take part in functional training and knowledge development led by operations experts, including advanced learning in one of six areas: manufacturing, product development, purchasing, service operations, supply chain management, or capital excellence.
Practice and Business Context
You will be part of the Operations Practice and based in one of the European offices. The practice helps clients address complex operational challenges by combining strategic thinking with practical implementation. The Manufacturing service line supports organizations across industries with future-focused lean manufacturing strategies and advice on strategic and operational issues related to Lean Manufacturing.
What the Program Offers
- Ongoing learning supported by structured programs and apprenticeship-style development.
- Regular feedback that is intended to be direct, useful, and centered on growth.
- The chance to contribute ideas from day one and help shape outcomes with a strong focus on ethics and integrity.
- Exposure to a global, diverse community spanning 65+ countries and more than 100 nationalities.
- A competitive salary based on location, experience, and skills, together with a broad benefits package for you and your family.
Application Notes
Applications must be submitted in English and should include a CV plus transcripts from high school, university, and any other relevant education, along with all applicable grades.
Reference tags mentioned with the role include Operations2026 and EuropeEP.
