Job description
Role overview
This position is part of McKinsey’s two-year Operations Excellence Program within the Operations Practice. As a consultant focused on manufacturing, you will support client teams on operational challenges across European offices, helping organizations improve performance through lean and future-oriented manufacturing approaches.
What you will do
You will work on client engagements much like any other consultant in the firm. The role involves structuring problems, developing hypotheses, carrying out analyses, and turning findings into clear recommendations. Over time, you will build strong operations and consulting capabilities through a mix of client work, coaching, and structured learning.
You will also spend time on functional training and knowledge development with operations specialists, including advanced learning in one of the program’s focus areas such as manufacturing, product development, purchasing, service operations, supply chain management, or capital excellence.
Manufacturing focus
The manufacturing service line supports companies across industries in designing and implementing lean manufacturing strategies. The work includes advising leadership teams on strategic and operational topics related to lean manufacturing and operational excellence.
