Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a non-management kitchen team member in the food and beverage and culinary function at a Marriott property in Vagator Beach Road, Goa. The role supports the preparation and service of food to the hotel’s required quality, presentation, and safety standards.

Key Duties

  • Prepare cooking ingredients by portioning, chopping, peeling, washing, storing, and measuring as needed.
  • Assist with cooking food according to recipes, standard preparation methods, quality controls, and presentation guidelines.
  • Handle cold food preparation and support menu production across assigned kitchen stations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  • Check food during cooking to confirm it is properly and fully cooked.
  • Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service activities.
  • Set up the work area before service and restore it after use.
  • Plate and portion food into the correct serving containers.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, utensils, knives, tools, tables, and equipment.
  • Verify that appliance and food temperatures are correct and safe.

Workplace Standards

  • Comply with company policies, food safety rules, and security procedures at all times.
  • Report maintenance issues, incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager promptly.
  • Complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance and follow uniform standards.
  • Protect confidential and proprietary information and safeguard company property.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members.
  • Build cooperative working relationships and contribute to shared team goals.
  • Respond constructively to feedback and concerns from colleagues.
  • Uphold established quality expectations and operational standards.
  • Be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods, and perform bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and reaching movements during a full shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and place items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Carry out other duties assigned by supervisors.

Preferred Background

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. No supervisory experience or special license/certification is required.
