Role Overview

Wayfair is hiring a Commercial Interior Designer to develop tailored design solutions, coordinate timelines from early concepts through installation, and partner with consultants, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality commercial interiors efficiently.

Compensation

The expected base pay for this role is $64,000 to $70,000 per year. Final pay may vary depending on the labor market and the location of your primary work region. A location-specific salary detail will be shared during the first interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use AutoCAD and other internal tools to create programming documents, space plans, product specifications, and parts lists.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and fabricators to keep projects aligned with goals.
  • Prepare fabric and finish selections.
  • Produce all necessary drawings, including 2D, 3D, and installation documentation.
  • Work with the Sales team to define project budgets and schedules.
  • Support final installation reviews and punch-list completion when needed.
  • Join and sometimes lead client meetings.
  • Contact suppliers and manufacturers for samples, quotes, and product details.
  • Help manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Take part in office activities, team initiatives, and learning opportunities.
  • Use project management systems such as Salesforce, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Figma to track workflow.
  • Be available for travel up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from an accredited school is required.
  • Prior professional experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Understanding of interior design workflows, including FF&E, furniture systems, specifications, colors, and materials.
  • Strong conceptual and spatial 3D thinking abilities.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple project types across different industry verticals and design stages.
  • Comfort working collaboratively within a team.
  • Solid project coordination, organization, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Well suited to remote work, with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and proactively share updates, blockers, and ideas.
