About Stragen

Stragen, founded in 1990 near Geneva, Switzerland, is an international pharmaceutical group focused on producing complex generics and consumer health products designed for patients facing serious and often life-threatening conditions. The company specializes in niche formulations in the areas of cardiology, anti-infectives, and women's health, having commercialized over 40 products across more than 60 countries. They maintain a direct presence in major markets such as Germany, France, the Nordics, the United States, and Canada.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer, the Head of Commercial for Germany is responsible for managing the entire profit and loss of the German operations. This includes developing and expanding commercial channels, growing the customer base, and securing tenders with hospitals and insurance groups to meet Stragen's five-year strategic objectives. The position leads a compact, commercially driven team covering sales, marketing, and support functions while ensuring strict compliance and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand the German P&L by achieving revenue, margin, cash flow, and forecast accuracy goals.
  • Direct commercial efforts across various channels including hospitals, private retail groups, insurance groups, and tenders.
  • Own and execute tender strategies, managing pipelines, bid decisions, pricing, fulfillment, and regulatory governance for rebate contracts (Rabattverträge/GKV).
  • Engage with payers, purchasing organizations, wholesalers, and pharmacy networks to optimize trade terms.
  • Develop and implement digital marketing initiatives and direct-to-patient approaches.
  • Establish and oversee partnerships and co-promotion activities initiated by the Group.
  • Support corporate business development and M&A by preparing business cases and managing post-acquisition integration.
  • Maintain full compliance with AMG, HWG, FSA Code, GDP/GxP, pharmacovigilance, GDPR requirements, and ensure readiness for inspections.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop the commercial team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10 to 15 years or more in pharmaceutical or consumer health care sectors, demonstrating leadership in sales or business units within Germany.
  • Possession of 75 AMG Sachkenntnis (Certified Pharmaceutical Consultant) or equivalent scientific qualification enabling direct professional dealings with pharmacies and prescribers.
  • Proven success in increasing sales and securing tenders, with comprehensive knowledge of the GKV/tender and payer landscape.
  • Experience in managing partnerships and co-promotion, with familiarity in working with generic (Gx) and specialty dossier suppliers.
  • Strong commercial finance skills, including pricing strategies, contribution margin understanding, and working capital management.
  • Fluency in German and English, alongside excellent negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.

Benefits and Working Conditions

  • Attractive base salary supplemented by a bonus scheme, along with benefits compliant with the German market standards.
  • Options for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
  • Travel commitment of around 30-40% within Germany and occasional trips across Europe and globally.
