Role overview
The Commercial Business Analyst will report to the Head of Commercial for the Electric Business, with a dotted reporting line to the Senior Director of Electric Business. This position is responsible for strengthening sales performance management and commercial analysis through data-led insights that improve sales, repayments, product usage, carbon project delivery, and wider business results. The role also contributes to strategic work, builds presentation materials for senior audiences, and helps improve decision-making across PAYGO, Carbon, B2C, and B2B channels.
Sales performance support
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance dashboards, summarize key findings, and help coordinate follow-up actions for channel leaders.
- Assist in monitoring results across Direct Sales, B2B, PAYGO, Carbon, and Country MRV by providing reports, data pulls, and analytical support in a timely manner.
- Spot weak performance trends at channel, regional, agent, or country level and translate the findings into practical, data-backed recommendations for channel leads.
- Keep sales trackers and dashboards updated and continuously improve them so leaders can access reliable information quickly.
- Support the setting, tracking, and review of sales targets, KPIs, and incentive plans by supplying relevant history, trend analysis, and recommendations.
Commercial quality and compliance monitoring
- Monitor and report key quality indicators such as repayment efficiency, stove usage levels (KOPA usage/uptime), activation quality, carbon eligibility compliance, and the accuracy of customer onboarding records.
- Flag early signs of repayment risk, low usage, weak activation practices, and possible carbon-ineligible sales.
- Work with country teams to promote disciplined execution and high-quality sales operations.
- Provide leadership with a clear view of commercial health, quality movement, and emerging risks.
Forecasting and commercial planning
- Own monthly and quarterly forecasts for electric stove demand, carbon volumes, market activations, and commercial revenue.
- Maintain forecasting models that combine sales trends, repayment behavior, seasonality, carbon rules, and field insights.
- Build scenario and sensitivity analyses to support production planning, inventory allocation, country activation timing, and market prioritization.
Commercial analysis and pricing
- Analyze performance by channel and country, including contribution margin, CAC, repayment patterns, and unit economics.
- Support pricing reviews and recommendations to protect profitability across all markets.
- Partner with Finance on commercial COGS analysis, carbon revenue modelling, and product economics.
- Prepare detailed commercial reports that surface risks, gaps, and opportunities for better performance.
Carbon project analytics and support
- Track carbon project milestones, eligibility requirements, activation progress, and country-level results.
- Watch carbon-creditable electric sales and identify exposure from ineligible units or inaccurate data.
- Work closely with MRV and field operations to improve carbon project execution and data quality.
Strategy support and executive presentations
- Support the Senior Director by creating polished presentations for internal leadership, investors, donors, and board-level discussions.
- Handle strategic assignments such as market deep-dives, competitor reviews, operational improvement studies, and feasibility assessments.
- Convert complex datasets into concise, executive-ready narratives, charts, and visual summaries.
- Develop decision-ready business cases for new markets, partnerships, products, and carbon initiatives.
Market research and feasibility studies
- Carry out market, competitor, and customer research to inform expansion choices and commercial strategy.
- Assess whether new markets, partnerships, agents, or sales models are viable.
- Support the creation of B2B, institutional, NGO, and channel-specific proposals.
Budget monitoring and commercial controls
- Track commercial spend against budget and escalate major variances to leadership.
- Support controls related to repayments, carbon processes, and commercial operations.
- Work with Finance to ensure accurate reporting of commercial costs, carbon revenue, and project-related expenses.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner with Sales, MRV, Country Teams, Finance, Digital, Product, Carbon, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
- Coordinate follow-ups and action items after performance reviews and strategy sessions.
- Act as a central analytical support resource for the Head of Commercial and the Senior Director.

- Proven ability to analyze commercial performance and deliver timely, actionable insights on sales, revenue, margins, and profitability.
- Strong reporting and dashboard management skills, with the ability to produce accurate daily, weekly, and monthly outputs within deadlines.
- Experience building and maintaining forecasts, reviewing variances, and supporting budgeting and planning.
- Capability in pricing and profitability analysis to support margin improvement and commercial strategy.
- Business intelligence skills to assess market trends, customer behavior, and overall business performance and turn them into practical recommendations.
- Ability to support stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Operations with analysis, business cases, and data-driven recommendations.
- Comfort with process improvement, data accuracy, and automation or efficiency improvements in reporting workflows.
