Healthcare Academy of New Zealand (HANZ) is a pioneer in health education and is recognised as the first private training organisation in Aotearoa to deliver Enrolled Nurse education. Role overview
HANZ is looking for a Clinical Tutor to support the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5) at its Auckland Central Campus. This is a casual, onsite position located in Auckland CBD. The role centres on helping learners connect nursing theory with practice, build essential clinical capability, and meet the Nursing Council competencies required for registration.
Teaching and clinical support
- Deliver interactive teaching sessions in both classroom and online formats.
- Support clinical learning in practice settings alongside workplace preceptors.
- Guide learners in meeting academic standards and clinical performance expectations.
- Track learner progress and assess readiness for the final Nursing Council examinations.
- Work with the clinical placement team and external partners to maintain strong placement quality.
Candidate profile
The ideal person will be a committed clinician who enjoys teaching and helping future nurses succeed. You should be comfortable working across different learning environments, able to communicate effectively with people from varied backgrounds, and confident balancing academic and practical teaching.
Required qualifications and experience
- You must be a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse holding a current New Zealand practising certificate.
- A post-registration or postgraduate qualification in nursing or a related discipline is required.
- You need at least 5 years of recent nursing or clinical experience in New Zealand.
- Experience supporting or supervising learners in a clinical environment is expected.
- An adult education qualification is desirable; if not already held, it must be completed within 2 years of employment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, plus good interpersonal skills, are essential.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultural responsiveness and Te Tiriti o Waitangi is required.
- Previous teaching experience in tertiary or vocational education would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Kaupapa Māori, mātauranga Māori, and tikanga is important.
- A valid New Zealand driver’s licence is required.
