Role Overview
The Clinical Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, offering expert clinical and procurement knowledge to guarantee the safe, effective, and cost-efficient supply of medical devices and consumables to both adult and paediatric hospitals in Sheffield.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between clinical teams and procurement, supporting product evaluations, standardisation efforts, and innovations aimed at improving patient outcomes and optimising resource utilization.
- Take charge of managing Field Safety Notices, product recalls, and safety communications, ensuring rapid assessment and appropriate action to uphold patient safety and adhere to regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with clinicians and other stakeholders at various levels to influence decisions, support governance protocols, and implement sustainable procurement solutions aligned with organisational and system-wide goals.
- Support product trials and requests for new products, ensuring evidence-based decision making that considers patient outcomes and financial sustainability.
- Contribute to product standardisation and rationalisation initiatives to enhance quality, minimize variability, and increase operational efficiency.
- Provide specialist clinical advice during procurement activities and assist with cost improvement and service development strategies.
