Job Summary
The Clinical Informatics Specialist Level 1 serves as a vital bridge connecting clinical knowledge, technology, and processes within healthcare IT. This role enhances the application of clinical information systems to support patient care, safety, system usability, clinical efficiency, and quality outcomes aligned with organizational goals and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply comprehensive understanding of organizational policies and clinical workflows to provide guidance for system improvements, education, testing, and upgrades.
- Possess familiarity with healthcare regulations impacting clinical workflows, and actively participate in knowledge-sharing activities such as journal clubs and workshops.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues spanning multiple service lines, coordinating closely with service users and escalating as needed to ensure solutions.
- Organize and manage project tasks effectively to meet deadlines with minimal supervision; lead smaller enhancements or project tasks when appropriate.
- Collaborate with training teams to develop communications for clinical users, support design sessions, and facilitate presentations and meetings.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for end users regarding clinical information systems through routine rounds in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Support system upgrades and communications regarding workflow or system changes, ensuring smooth adoption by clinical staff.
- Active participation in Clinical Informatics council and foster teamwork to meet collective objectives.
- Demonstrate proactive professional development and assist colleagues in accomplishing their work.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Minimum two years of clinical experience required; informatics experience is preferred.
- Preferred bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Licensed clinicians such as nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacy technicians, dietitians, respiratory therapists, etc., are preferred candidates.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent social and organizational abilities.
- Self-motivated with solid critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical practices as they relate to the integration and impact of clinical information systems.
- Experience managing resources responsibly and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Awareness of clinical compliance and regulatory standards.
