Job description

About the Role

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Clerk/Receptionist on the Direct Long Term Care Administration Team at Berkley Care Centre in North Vancouver, BC. In this role, you will perform essential receptionist, clerical, and messenger duties within the nursing area, along with other facility-related tasks as assigned by management. You will utilize your knowledge of applicable computer systems and software, maintain efficient filing systems, type non-technical materials, and manage office supply levels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receptionist duties, including greeting visitors and managing inquiries.
  • Handle clerical tasks such as filing, typing, and managing correspondence.
  • Act as a messenger within the nursing area and facility.
  • Maintain office supply inventory and order as needed.
  • Operate office equipment effectively.
  • Support facility activities as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of recent, relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proficiency in typing at a speed of 45 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and clients.
  • Physical capability to perform the job duties.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Eligibility

This position is open to external candidates. Successful applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all new hires will be required to provide information regarding past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as part of the onboarding process.

Education Required

Grade 12 plus two years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
