About the Role
The San Diego Padres Accounting & Finance department is seeking a Clerk, Accounts Payable, reporting to the Senior Director, Finance. This is a part-time, onsite position responsible for ensuring the prompt and precise processing of all invoices and check requests for multiple entities. The role emphasizes strict management of expense approvals and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and distribute all paper and electronic invoices and check requests to proper approvers via the Concur Invoice system.
- Manage online vendor accounts by regularly downloading invoices and statements.
- Ensure that invoices receive timely approvals.
- Review invoices and check requests for accuracy, coding, and necessary approvals.
- Maintain compliance with Sales & Use Tax regulations on company purchases.
- Handle processing of approximately 300-400 invoices and check requests weekly, including manual processing when required.
- Prepare daily payables batches for management review and weekly batches of manual checks and electronic payments.
- Update and maintain vendor records, including addresses and tax information like Form 1099 data.
- Respond to vendor-related requests from the MLB Commissioner’s Office.
- Serve as the communication link between vendors and the company, reconciling vendor statements as needed.
- Maintain organized accounts payable files and documentation.
- Support Staff Accountants with check and ACH payment processes.
- Manage petty cash expenses by disbursing and reconciling funds.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal departments and external vendors.
- Assist with administrative duties within the department and support audit requests related to accounts payable.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Concur Invoice and Microsoft Dynamics GP is advantageous.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with general office equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate respectfully with others.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and time management to manage high volumes of detailed work and multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Maintain a professional demeanor along with discretion, integrity, and accountability.
- Consistent punctuality and dependable attendance.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at employment start.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent education preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of prior experience in Accounts Payable or General Accounting.
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed.
- Physical ability to access various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods during events and lift or transport up to 25 pounds.
- Successful completion of all pre-employment steps including background check is required.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage range for this part-time opportunity is $22.50 to $26.20, aligned with California pay transparency laws and dependent on experience, education, and skill set.
