Role Overview
This position is responsible for making sure cheque clearing and financial postings are handled accurately, efficiently, and under control. The role also requires active involvement in ECC system improvements and user acceptance testing, while helping strengthen the technical capability of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process inward and outward clearing cheques within QCB cut-off timelines.
- Check that scanned outward clearing cheque records, including PDC and BD cases, are complete and correct.
- Review the accuracy of on-us cheques, new PDC bookings, safekeeping charges, and PDC cancellations.
- Match outward clearing cheque balances in PS-ECC with the outward suspense account in Equation each day.
- Confirm safekeeping reports against the physical cheques on the due date and approve them.
- Authorize WPS and non-WPS payroll transactions.
- Approve vouchers received from internal departments and handle other ad hoc requests.
- Regularly assess staff productivity and suggest process changes that help manage higher volumes and business growth without affecting approved headcount.
- Maintain strong internal service standards for credit, risk, and branch teams, while also dealing with external customers when needed.
- Complete tasks assigned by the line manager as required.
- Work with frontline business teams to improve the customer experience.
- Maintain a high level of processing accuracy.
- Ensure staff availability to meet the unit SLA.
- Manage TAT commitments and exception handling as a priority in line with business needs.
- Prepare MIS reports on a daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly basis for the relevant activities.
- Provide backup support to other Clearing & Posting team leaders.
- Work with team members on KPI targets and support them in contributing to the role’s scope.
- Help build team capability through training plans and ongoing performance feedback.
- Review operational risk gaps identified internally or by audit teams and help close them to prevent repeat errors.
- Ensure all audit observations and recommendations are resolved within agreed timelines to improve operations.
- Lead operations-related business projects with the team and ensure UAT is completed on schedule, including positive and negative end-to-end test cases.
- Coordinate with IT and internal stakeholders to implement system or regulatory changes on time.
- Keep subordinates informed about ongoing projects and involve them in all UAT activities to build technical and system knowledge.
- Organize, supervise, and distribute daily work transparently so that tasks are completed efficiently and in line with procedures and policy.
- Provide on-the-job training and continuous feedback to support team development.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in commerce or banking is required.
The role requires at least 5 years of cheque processing experience and a minimum of 3 years working as a processor in Operations.
Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate should have strong cheque processing expertise, be proficient in MS Office, and communicate confidently in both written and spoken English. The role also calls for the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
