Job description

Overview

This is a newly created estimating position with a civil contractor that delivers small to mid-sized projects throughout Adelaide. The role supports the Director on tenders and covers civil works valued at up to $4 million.

The business works with councils, government bodies, builders and developers on public realm upgrades and civil infrastructure. Over recent years, the company has expanded its offering to include package work for builders, developers and councils, backed by repeat clients and a strong reputation for quality, efficiency and clear communication.

Work environment

  • You will be part of a compact estimating team.
  • The office is located about 7 km south of the CBD.
  • The team culture is practical, straightforward and low-ego.

Role overview

  • Prepare cost estimates for civil construction projects across Adelaide.
  • Analyse drawings, scopes and supporting documents to spot risks and shape construction methodology.
  • Carry out take-offs and build rates for earthworks, roadworks, stormwater and concrete works.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site personnel so pricing aligns with the delivery plan.
  • Request and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers where needed.
  • Review tender packs and handle clarifications during the tender process.

Candidate profile

  • At least 2 years of estimating experience in civil construction and/or council-related work; local experience is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of South Australian subcontractor markets, pricing structures, delivery methods and tender expectations.
  • Confidence in reading drawings and technical documentation accurately.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal abilities.
