Job description
About ASMALLWORLD
ASMALLWORLD is a prominent Swiss-listed luxury travel and lifestyle membership company with a global reach of over 120,000 members. We are currently experiencing significant growth, with a 38% increase in membership in 2025, and are dedicated to building a robust technology infrastructure to support this expansion. We connect a discerning community of travelers with exclusive benefits, private experiences, and premium concierge services.
The Role
We are seeking a commercially astute and hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to spearhead the technological vision and execution for ASMALLWORLD. This senior leadership position reports directly to the CEO and encompasses complete accountability for product engineering, infrastructure management, and the product roadmap. You will join us at a critical juncture as we have recently reorganized our technology department and are investing in a modern, streamlined technology stack. Key objectives include enhancing CRM capabilities, achieving personalization at scale, and developing the foundational backend infrastructure to sustain and accelerate the growth of our membership and travel businesses. This role is ideal for a strategic visionary who is also eager to actively contribute to building and testing innovations that enhance member experiences and drive business success.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overarching commercial objectives.
- Oversee end-to-end engineering planning and delivery across product, platform, and infrastructure.
- Manage the CRM and marketing technology stack, including both internal systems and third-party platforms.
- Develop and maintain the data architecture, and enhance member and business analytics capabilities.
- Lead vendor and partner management, including the integration of third-party services such as hotel and airline loyalty programs, and financial institutions.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing, compact engineering team.
- Ensure security, compliance, and data governance, adhering to Swiss and EU regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a CTO or a senior engineering leader within a consumer-focused digital business, preferably in the travel, luxury, or membership/subscription sectors.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience leading effective technology teams.
- A strong full-stack technical background, with the ability to write and review code, make critical architectural decisions, and hold engineering staff accountable.
- Proven expertise in managing CRM or marketing technology systems, encompassing both proprietary and third-party solutions (Salesforce experience is highly desirable).
- Significant commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of the customer journey (digital and digitally-enabled), sales and marketing conversion funnels, and the ability to link technical decisions to tangible business outcomes and rapid iteration.
- A track record of identifying and implementing AI and automation projects that have resulted in significant business transformation.
- Adaptability and effectiveness in a lean, high-ownership, and fast-paced work environment.
- A high degree of integrity and humility.
- Experience and enthusiasm for collaborating with, influencing, and learning from peers.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is considered an advantage.
Perks
- A competitive remuneration package.
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, contingent on candidate location.
- Opportunity to join a team deeply passionate about luxury travel, with access to a variety of travel benefits and exclusive perks, including significant discounts at over 1,000 hotels worldwide and car rental upgrades.
- The chance to shape and lead the technology vision that will drive ASMALLWORLD's future growth.
