About the Organization
Sales Club is a student-run group at SMU that helps build the next wave of sales talent through practical, hands-on learning. Its members take part in workshops, roleplays, competitions, and networking sessions with industry professionals. The mission is to connect classroom concepts with real sales situations, while encouraging peer learning and shared experience. The community is collaborative, focused on growth, and designed to equip emerging sales leaders for success across a range of career paths, including sales and consulting.
Role Overview
The Chief Sales Officer is a full-time remote leadership position that drives the sales direction and overall performance of Sales Club’s programs and partnerships. The role is responsible for planning and delivering sales initiatives, member growth efforts, and sponsorship development, all while staying aligned with the organization’s long-term goals and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the sales strategy for the organization and ensure the team works toward clear performance goals.
- Lead the creation and rollout of sales programs, membership growth campaigns, and sponsorship opportunities.
- Oversee sales operations, monitor performance data, and improve processes to strengthen engagement and revenue potential.
- Work closely with student leaders, faculty advisors, and outside partners to shape training content and support workshops and competitions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders and external collaborators.
- Coach and guide team members while encouraging ethical selling practices and consistent professional standards.
- Represent Sales Club in virtual events, meetings, and external discussions.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in sales and sales leadership, with the ability to create strategy, define targets, and sustain high performance.
- Background in sales operations, including pipeline oversight, reporting, and process improvement for informed decision-making.
- Experience training and managing teams, with the ability to mentor and develop sales talent in a cooperative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities, especially in remote collaboration.
- Comfort working independently, balancing several priorities, and staying organized in a fast-moving student organization.
- Interest in or familiarity with sales in educational or nonprofit environments; leadership experience in student groups is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience in sales leadership.
