Role overview

A growing Midlands business is looking for a Chief Operations Officer to help steer the organisation through its next stage of expansion. This leadership role is focused on improving how the business runs day to day, strengthening structure across teams, and supporting long-term transformation.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of daily operations across several business units and ensure activity stays aligned with wider company goals.
  • Put in place a clearer organisational design by creating defined leadership levels and stronger accountability across teams.
  • Lead ongoing improvement work aimed at streamlining processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing manual tasks through automation where possible.
  • Improve visibility across the business by strengthening reporting, tracking meaningful KPIs, and maintaining open communication between departments.
  • Review the current team structure to identify strengths and development needs, then reshape or build capability where required.
  • Encourage a collaborative workplace culture that supports strong internal relationships and active knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to ensure operational priorities support the company’s longer-term strategy while still reflecting employee needs.

Candidate profile

The business is seeking a senior operations leader with a strong background in high-growth environments, particularly where significant change and scaling have been required. You should bring experience of building structure, introducing accountability, and supporting collaborative leadership models. A strong record in process improvement, workflow automation, performance reporting, KPI development, and transparent communication is essential.
