About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Executive Director to spearhead the strategic and daily operations of our organization based in Worcester, Massachusetts. This leadership position is vital for advancing program development, managing finances, and driving organizational growth while fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere for children and families. The COO will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors, oversee managerial staff, and act as the organization’s representative to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and partner with the Board to set and realize organizational objectives that align with the mission.
  • Ensure adherence to licensing and regulatory standards through managing applications and overseeing site inspections.
  • Direct financial operations including budgeting, financial tracking, and audit supervision.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives and cultivate relationships with donors and community stakeholders to secure funding.
  • Manage and guide leadership teams in finance, operations, and enrollment for effective contract execution and program delivery.
  • Handle staffing strategies including hiring, retention, and employee development to uphold a high-performing team.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and training frameworks to promote operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Oversee facility upkeep, security, and capital improvement projects ensuring safe and well-maintained premises.
  • Serve as the organization’s liaison in community engagement and public relations to enhance visibility and partnerships.
  • Ensure staff-to-child ratios comply with applicable regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • At least seven years in leadership roles focused on operational and strategic oversight.
  • Demonstrated success managing donor engagement, including soliciting major gifts and leading fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in working alongside Boards of Directors to enforce governance best practices and strategic initiatives.
  • Skilled in staff leadership, training, and development programs.
  • Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements and licensing procedures in childcare or nonprofit environments.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills for effective community engagement and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to balance diverse priorities efficiently.
