Role overview

BlackPie is hiring a seasoned Chief Operating Officer to lead day-to-day operations and strengthen the company’s ability to scale. This leadership role partners closely with the CEO and executive team to turn strategy into execution, improve operating discipline, and guide the organization toward both immediate and long-term goals.

The right candidate will bring a strong track record in operational leadership, team building, and business improvement. This position calls for someone who can thrive in a dynamic environment, align teams around priorities, and keep performance moving in the right direction.

Strategic leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to shape and execute company strategy and operating objectives.
  • Convert high-level plans into clear business actions and trackable outcomes.
  • Keep an eye on market shifts, industry developments, and effective operating practices.
  • Provide support for fundraising efforts, investor communication, and growth-related expansion projects when needed.

Operations management

  • Oversee everyday business activity across functions such as operations, HR, finance, customer support, compliance, and administration.
  • Design, refine, and strengthen operating systems, workflows, and internal controls.
  • Drive better efficiency, productivity, and cost management across the organization.
  • Create KPIs, performance measures, and reporting frameworks to track progress.

Team leadership

  • Build, coach, and manage department heads and operational teams.
  • Promote a workplace culture centered on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and strong execution.
  • Lead planning efforts for the organization, workforce development, and talent management.
  • Support hiring for senior roles and contribute to leadership succession planning.

Financial and business oversight

  • Work with finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Track operating costs and find ways to improve spend efficiency.
  • Back revenue-generating initiatives and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Help ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.

Process optimization

  • Spot operational bottlenecks and put scalable improvements in place.
  • Enhance automation, reporting structures, and core business systems.
  • Oversee risk reviews and crisis-response planning.
  • Champion continuous improvement across every major operational area.

Stakeholder communication

  • Share operational updates and strategic progress with the CEO, board members, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication so departments stay aligned and execution remains on track.
  • Represent the company in meetings, partnerships, and industry events as required.
